Top Speakers from the Event

Heavy hitters from the mobile marketing industry were speaking daily at MMAF- New York 2013.  Here are two of our favorites.

Tomi Ahonen

Tomi Ahonen, self-described as living a James Bond lifestyle, showed examples of mobile marketing techniques from all over the world.  Tomi explained how mobile naturally has a built in payment system, and how mobile phones are being used in place of a banks in Kenya.

Money being sent and received using mobile phones has now been adopted by 70% of the adult population and is a conduit for 25% of Kenya’s GNP.”-The Economist

Tomi claimed, “mobile is the magical money making machine”; All while explaining that mobile is as much different from the internet, as TV is from cinema. Mobile marketers must remember this while coming up with creative and new ways to market via mobile.

Here is his full presentation.

Brian Wong

Brian Wong, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Kiip- pronounced ‘Keep’, co-lead the presentation;  ’Bridging the POS Gap Between Mobile and Retailers’.  Brian wins BestBuzz all time favorite speaker. His delightful fluctuation between harmless curse words and insightful tips really kept the attention of those attending MMAF- New York 2013 . Brain has a realness during his presentation that isn’t conference etiquette norm.

He was so real, he even warned of what marketers shouldn’t do. His main critique: don’t assume that someone wants something because they are located within a geo-fence. In other words, don’t try and sell me a coffee because I’m walking by a Starbucks. He and others at Kipp believe in engaging your audience when they are happy and paying attention, and rewarding users for anything they accomplish.

We couldn’t agree more; Rewarding people is what BestBuzz is built around.

If you were unable to make the MMAF- New York 2013, that’s okay.  All presentations from the event can be found on this MMAF- New York 2013 webpage.
